One week into the New Year and you may already be rethinking those New Year Goals. That’s okay, it happens to all of us, but remember, goals are best accomplished one step at a time. You’ll get there! If keeping better care of your house is on your list, than this just might help you.
I recently discovered the Netflix series, “Tidying up with Marie Kondo”, and it was a fresh look at keeping things tidy. Actually, it just helps you keep a fresh perspective on material things so they don’t dominate your life.
The one thing that I found most helpful was Marie’s tip on seasonal items. Specifically, she was talking Christmas because Christmas decorations can be overwhelming, especially when taking them down and storing them. Now, chances are, you may have already taken down your Christmas decorations and stored them away, but if you haven’t don’t worry! No judging here. We’ve all delayed that at some point. Besides, this tip can be applied to anything that is seasonal, not just for Christmas.
Store your seasonal items in a clear container so you can see what it is. That’s it. It’s not a huge secret, and really, she applies it to everything. I just never really considered how seeing my items at a glance can make such a huge difference in housekeeping.
How much of a difference can it make to store something in a way that you can see? There is less sorting through everything and that saves time. And like the saying goes, time is energy. Don’t waste it!
So why are we talking about this here?
The answer is simple, our screens can also be a seasonal item. For many of you who live in states with clearly defined seasons, you are probably storing your screen for the winter, and bringing it out during warmer seasons.
So the same thing can be applied to your screen. Store it somewhere safe and dry, in a clear container where you can easily access it when you want it.
Of course, to store it, you will want to clean it first. Remove any debris that may be on it and make sure there isn’t anything sharp left on the screen. Wash it with warm, soapy water and let it dry before folding it and storing it. Keep any accessories or associated items with it in it’s own separate bag, then store it in the same container. This will not only save you time when putting it back up next season, but it will also extend the life of your screen.
